On March, 12 Venezuela got new national symbols. The country saw a ninth star, symbolising the province of Guyana, appear on the yellow-blue-and-red Venezuelan tricolour. Besides, the flag now features the symbols, linked to the indigenous Indian culture.

On March 1 a new presidential edict ¹ 74 of February, 7 2006 “On the improvement of the order of rent calculation for state-owned plots” came into force. In accordance with this document the basis for fixing yearly rents for plots is their cadastral cost.

Preferential crediting for overhauling and capital repairs | Hanna Žarabcova | 02.03.2006

On March, 18 2006 the presidential edict ¹ 75 of February, 7 2006 “On granting the residents of towns and villages having the population of less then 20 thousand the right to preferential credits for capital repairs and overhauling of living quarters, building networks and utility rooms” came into force. In accordance with the new normative act a certain group of citizens is entitled to the credits for the aims of edict ¹ 75.

On February, 23 2006 Ukrainian Supreme Rada adopted the law “On volunteering” in order to define the organisational and legal principles of volunteering.

On February 24 the Law Center for Media Protection, a sub-division of the Belarusian Association of Journalists, presented the draft of the law “On the right to receive information”. February, 24 saw the first session of the standing European Parliament committee, which investigates the alleged cases of CIA unlawfully keeping prisoners in Europe. NGOs and officials have prompted the claims on the numerous instances of CIA planes crossing EU air space.
