On June, 14 the government of Germany adopted a law draft aimed at boosting birth rate in the country. In accordance with the adopted law draft the parents of children born in Germany after January, 1 2007 will be receiving governmental allowance amounting to 67% of their previous wages, which, nevertheless, may not exceed 1800 euros monthly.
One of the parents taking a child rearing leave will be receiving the allowance during the first year after the birth of a child. The young families where the husband takes the leave for at least eight months win an additional benefit, namely, governmental aid. Under the law, such families will be receiving the allowance for 14 months. Besides, governmental allowance will be given to single parents.
