Spanish Government to back mastering foreign languages | Hanna Žarabcova

In his parliament speech, the Prime-Minister of Spain stated that everyone aged 18 to 30, attempting to master a foreign language can count on governmental pecuniary support.

In accordance with Spanish legislation, studying English in local schools is compulsory. Still, the government is not satisfied with the level of foreign language mastery. Besides, it is asserted in a study conducted by the European Commission that only 20% of Spaniards can more or less freely speak a foreign language. That is why in order to stimulate the study of foreign languages the government intends to pay such students up to 1000 euros.
