From November 1, 2005 all the applicants for British citizenship will have to pass a test about 45 minutes in duration. The test will comprise 24 questions from the history of Britain and will also touch upon her legislation and traditions. The whole procedure will cost 34 pounds.

After passing the test the applicants will be solemnly proclaimed British subjects. Today the candidates for British citizenship are to pass just a language mastery test.
