The insurance of lawyer’s responsibility is common practise all over the world. A similar norm is introduced in Russia from January, 1 2007, still it will embrace attorneys exclusively. Thus, according to the federal law “On the advocacy in the Russian Federation” of January,1 2007 attorneys are obliged to provide the insurance for their professional property responsibility against breaking the terms of the agreement with principals. It is intended that obligatory insurance will be propitious to securing the rights of both attorneys and the principals suffering property losses as a result of attorney’s wrongdoings.

The realisation of the professional attorney’s risks insurance requires working out and adopting a special law. For this purpose a major work group was summoned. Its objectives will be developing the conception of a new obligatory form of insurance, a draft of a new federal law and carrying out other measures in order to promote the implementation of the insurance regulations.

Regarding the fact that the provision on the obligatory insurance is provided for in the laws on notary’s, auditing activity, accounting and several others, their expertise will be allowed for.
